What is hydrogen peroxide?

In concentrated form, hydrogen peroxide is pale blue in color. Diluted - i.e. in the commercially available solution - it is colorless and odorless.

More viscous than water, the substance is a weak acid and has the ability to oxidize other substances.

It has always been used as a bleaching and disinfectant, and can also be used (in very high concentrations) as rocket fuel.

In everyday use, however, a weak 3% solution is common - but even when diluted so heavily with water, hydrogen peroxide develops amazing powers.
