Kizhi Island is famous for its architectural ensemble of the Kizhi Pogost, which includes the famous multi-domed Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. This wooden church is a unique architectural monument and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also on the island you can see the Church of the Resurrection of Lazarus, the Oshevnev House, the Elizarov House, and the Shchepin House, representing different layers of peasant life.
