The Yantar Production Association in Orel was founded in 1950. The company specialized in the production of large-size floor, wall, and table clocks, using mechanical and quartz movements. The factory went through two stages of development: initially, it produced alarm clocks using parts supplied by the Second Moscow Watch Factory, and then switched to using its own components.

In 1958, the company began increasing its production of various models of clocks. In 2004, the factory ceased operations, and its premises were sold.
