Hydrogen peroxide (usually a 3% solution) is a universal antiseptic for external use, used to treat abrasions, cuts, and purulent wounds, gargle with mouthwash for stomatitis or tonsillitis, and stop minor capillary bleeding.
It effectively cleanses damaged skin of dirt and pus.
The main uses of hydrogen peroxide are:
Medicine (3% solution):
- Wound treatment: Disinfection of abrasions, cuts, and purulent wounds.
Dentistry:
- Gargling with mouthwash for sore throat and tonsillitis, and treating gums for stomatitis/gingivitis.
- Bleeding control: Stops capillary bleeding.
ENT:
- Softening earwax.
Household use:
- Disinfection: Disinfection of surfaces and children's toys. - Stain and odor removal: Blood stain removal, refrigerator disinfection.
Cosmetology:
- Lightening: Hair bleaching (usually 6-12% solution).
Important notes:
Hydrogen peroxide should not be used on burns, as it can slow healing.
Once the bottle is opened, the product quickly loses its antiseptic properties.
Active foaming helps cleanse the wound, but does not guarantee the destruction of all germs.
